Big security loopholes got discovered in Tinder

Security research company Checkmarx has discovered what it terms as “disturbing vulnerabilities” in the popular dating app. According to the report, hackers can take advantage of these vulnerabilities to cause serious privacy breaches hurting an unsuspecting user. Researchers at Checkmarx reportedly demonstrated how Tinder lacks even basic HTTPS encryption for users’ photos. According to the research, the app lacks basic encryption required to keep users photos and matches safe. This means that if a hacker is using the same Wi-Fi network as the user, then he/she can monitor that user’s entire Tinder session and can also take control of his/her profile picture. The hacker can then use the pictures for swapping them with inappropriate or malicious content. Along with this, there’s also the risk of the hacker blackmailing or threatening the user of exposing their private information. The researchers found the vulnerabilities in both iOS and Android versions of the app.
